This may be silly, but this piece was inspired by a car: My first car, a forest green '99 Dodge Neon. I named him Norintu, after one of my comic book characters, Nori for short. Although Nori hasn't technically died yet, I bought a new car so now he sits in the driveway waiting to die. Even though I'm happy with the new one, I still miss driving my old car. Nori was the first car I ever drove, the car I got my license in, and the first car I ever legally owned. I also miss all of the thing that pissed me off about him, like how the blinkers didn't shut off on their own, the obnoxious smell of gasoline that filled his insides, how I could never fill up the gas tank all of the way, the check engine light that stayed on for two years, the radio that would turn on and off whenever he felt like it, how he would always vomit gasoline all over me when I tried to feed him, how every time I went over a tiny bump it sounded like the car was shattering, and I will also miss in the winter how the windows would ice up on the inside of the car. It's all of these horrible little quirks that make Nori so special and gave him his name.
I named him after Norintu, because Norintu is evil and a pain in the ass, as well as the eventual king of hell. My 99 dodge neon is basically the mechanical incarnate of the spawn of Satan, but I still can't help but love him, despite his flaws. I have so many great memories driving that car and so many horrible ones that make me laugh my ass off now. My new car, I named Marunin after Nori's wife, because she's a snappy feisty car, but she still has a lot of attitude as well as some quirks of her own. So I made this picture of Marunin and Norintu in memory of my old car. R.I.P. Nori. Never a better car there was or more true to its name. As I am driving around in my nice newer car with minimal problems, I will think of you and remember the agony you used to cause me. You will be missed, dear friend.
The last three songs you drove to were ironically appropriate: 1. Don't Fear the Reaper (Blue Oyster Cult) 2. Carry On my Wayward Son (Kansas) 3. Guys like us don't do well in Prison (My Chemical Romance)
Thanks! I'm glad you like it! lol, honestly, it is kind of is an obituary. I've been meaning to write a formal one to put on facebook along with this picture. I love my old car 8)
